Paravertebral blockade in thoracoscopic surgery.

چکیده
left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. In patients with predominant aortic regurgitation, especially those with bicuspid aortic valve or rheumatic fever associated with a geometric mismatch between the aortic and pulmonary valve due to dilated aortic annulus, the Ross procedure should be employed more selectively, and technical modifications that aim to prevent future annular and root dilatation should be considered. Efficacy of single-dose, multilevel paravertebral nerve blockade for analgesia after thoracoscopic procedures.
BACKGROUND Although video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for pulmonary resection is increasingly chosen over thoracotomy, the optimal analgesia regimen for thoracoscopy is unknown. The purpose of this trial was to compare the efficacy of analgesia from preoperative bupivacaine paravertebral nerve blockade with that from placebo injections. METHODS Eighty adult patients undergoing unilateral t...
متن کاملContinuous Paravertebral Nerve Blockade for Postoperative Analgesia after Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery and Chemical Pleurodesis in Children-A Case Series
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), apical blebectomy and chemical pleurodesis are often combined to prevent recurrence of spontaneous pneumothorax [1,2]. Postoperative pain arising from above procedures can be severe, leading to increased length of stay [2,3]. Effective analgesia in the immediate post-operative period is necessary for optimal recovery, and satisfactory postoperative p...

Single-injection thoracic paravertebral block for postoperative pain treatment after thoracoscopic surgery.
BACKGROUND Thoracoscopic surgery can be associated with considerable postoperative pain. While the benefits of paravertebral block on pain after thoracotomy have been demonstrated, no investigations on the effects of paravertebral block on pain after thoracoscopy have been conducted. We tested the hypothesis that a single-injection thoracic paravertebral block, performed preoperatively, reduces...
متن کاملUpdate on the role of paravertebral blocks for thoracic surgery: are they worth it?
PURPOSE OF REVIEW To consider optimal analgesic strategies for thoracic surgical patients. RECENT FINDINGS Recent studies have consistently suggested analgesic equivalence between paravertebral and thoracic epidural analgesia. Complications appear to be significantly less common with paravertebral analgesia. SUMMARY There is good evidence that paravertebral block can provide acceptable pain...
